The Wilkes Award for the best paper appeared in a volume of The Computer Journal is awarded in January each year to the author or authors of one paper appearing in the previous volume (year). The Computer Journal is published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the CEPIS member society BCS (British Computer Society). For further details click here. From its very first issue the digital edition of UPGRADE has been taken care of by Pascale Schürmann, from Switzerland. Now that she is leaving for personal reasons we want to express our deepest gratitude for her professionalism, skills and dedication. Jorge Llácer-Gil de Ramales, Spain, is taking on the job. March 19, 2005: Wilkes Award 2005 of The Computer Journal The Wilkes Award for the best paper appeared in a volume of The Computer Journal is awarded in January each year to the author or authors of one paper appearing in the previous volume (year). The Computer Journal is published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the CEPIS member society BCS (British Computer Society). The Award consists of some GBP 500 purchase vouchers from Oxford University Press, and a medal for the winner, and a GBP 100 purchase voucher for the runner-up. Criteria for the award are originality and quality of theme and treatment. The judgement is made by the Editor-in-Chief and a sub-committee of the Editorial Board.
